A creature native to the Minecraft world. It will spawn when the light level is too low (0-7) and will always attempt to attack and kill a player if nearby. Zombies will burn when daylight hits them. At this point they will attempt to hide from the sun by going under trees or into caves.
Zombies have a 5% chance to spawn as a Zombie Baby, which will be half the size of a regular Zombie, won't burn during day and can run significantly faster than the adults.
Other vanilla variants are the Zombie Villager and the Husk.
Since MC 1.13, Zombies cannot drown and will instead turn into a Drowned when running out of air.
Mods[edit]
There are some mods which change the behaviour of Zombies:
- Special Mobs adds various stronger variants.
- Epic Siege allows Zombies to dig and build blocks to be able to reach the player.

- ↑ Zombies will drop their heads with a tool enchanted with Beheading or when killed by a Charged Creeper's explosion
- ↑ Looting enchantment will increase the chance to obtain the rare drops, but not the amount dropped
