The Firefly Jar is a lighting block added by the Twilight Forest mod that is created by combining a Firefly with a Glass Bottle. It should be noted that these blocks give off a light level of only 8, which means that they are unable of stopping any and all monster spawns and would only serve as an aesthetic lighting or a lower-level lighting solution. If the player wishes to use the Firefly as a lighting solution, then using the Firefly directly is a far better method, as Fireflies themselves give off the max light level, 15. It is also important to note that the crafting recipe to create a Firefly Jar is non-reversible and the firefly cannot be extracted from the jar once it has been put in. Thus, fireflies should not be placed in jars if they will be necessary for lighting purposes in the future.

Trivia[edit]
- When hitting a Firefly Jar to remove it, instead of displaying the normal breaking-block overlay that is present when mining or destroying Stone, Wood, and other blocks, the Firefly Jar takes on a semitransparent and modified-for-size TNT block sprite on all of its faces.
