Talk:List of Aspects (Thaumcraft 3)

Research bonus spreadsheet[edit]

I've created a passive research bonus spreadsheet at http://pastebin.com/gJUFLemj If anyone wants to fill out the table. Its in csv format, rename it to .csv after downloading.

I tested a few things out on creative mode, and I found plenty of things that seem worth it to mention on the wiki. I strongly recommend you check these facts out for yourself before editing since I, or anyone, can possibly make up any false statement as truth. Blocks that give research bonus can be up to 10 blocks away from the research table, except downwards, which can go down to 12 blocks down. So that's a 21x22x23 are surrounding the research table.

The total research bonus for each aspect will max out at 5. For example, lava, fire, and TNT all give ignus bonus. But if you place enough fire for 3 bonus, and enough TNT for 2 bonus, the research table will just take the highest bonus, which is 3 from the fire. There is no point placing several different types of blocks in attempt to increase research bonus except when these items are for bonuses for different aspects.

The increase in aspect compared to the number of blocks in the 21x22x23 area is gradual from 0 to 5. For example,

1 anvil gives +1 bonus

3 anvils give +2 bonus

5 anvils give +3 bonus

7 anvils give +4 bonus

9 anvils give +5 bonus

Consider y as the bonus amount and x as the number of anvils or other blocks that act similarly.

y=(x+1)/2 [Always rounded down. 0<=y<=5]

There are other patterns like

y=(x+2)/5

y=(x+2)/4

but I didn't have time to check for all of them. Maybe I will next weekends.

MJ Producing Engines[edit]

Engines are not listed at all. I added one note to Motus but wasn't sure of the format, and then I realized not all are the same for everything.

Fractus = Stirling x 7 Combustion/Biogas, Peat-Fired/Electrical/Hobbyist's/Commercial/Industrial/Steam x 3

Impereto = Biogas x 5

Lignum = Redstone x 8 All others x 3 (excluding Magmatic)

Machina = Redstone X 2 Steam/Magmatic x 4

Motus = Redstone/Stirling/Combustion/Peat/Electrical/Hobbyist's/Commercial/Industrial/Magmatic x3

Vitreous = RS/Stirling x 2 Electrical X 10

There are a few more, but I've run out of time to do this right now. I wasn't too sure about adding them all since it is unlikely anything beyond RS and stirling would get used for research anyway. ----Andale The Great

Pure aspect sources[edit]

Maybe there should be a list of items that give only one type of essentia? [For example, cookies are pure victus, rubber boots are pure tutamen, stone is pure saxum, torches are pure lux, any dye is pure flos.] And a list of renewable sources? [Like charcoal and coco beans for potentia, wooden buttons for machina ?] Sorry for putting these suggestions here, but I don't know where I'm supposed to do that. The talk page is the only place I could think of. If anyone knows where this type of thing should go, can you move it or tell me where to move it please? I'd appreciate it. :) I love this wiki and I only want to help.

Hi and welcome to the wiki! What you're suggesting sounds good. That info could go either into the main table or into a separate one, not quite sure what would be best...
A few other things: first of all, yes, talk pages are the right place for suggestions and such. If you leave a comment there, please type four tildes (~~~~) at the end, they will be replaced with a signature and timestamp, so it is easier to see who made the comment. Also, you should consider creating an account - then you have a name on the wiki, which makes discussions and such clearer. --dgelessus (talk · contribs) 23:18, 5 October 2013 (CEST)
I dunno, maybe instead of doing that we could just put an asterisk beside the item in the list already on the page and then put a key below saying that asterisks mean that the item is purely that aspect? User Page. ƒelinoel_Contributions 00:35, 6 October 2013 (CEST)

Hello![edit]

I'm the one that started this, and now I made an account as you suggested. Is there a way to make a page or something to make all the edits that people can look at before it actually changes the main page? Thank you for the help too! 198.20.4.95 21:11, 6 October 2013 (CEST)

What? If you want to look at the page history click the button at the top that says history. ƒelinoel ~ (Talk) 05:09, 7 October 2013 (CEST)
